There are several extracurricular opportunities for students both before and after school.
Eagle Jump Force
Third and Fourth Grade
Monday – Friday
7:45 – 8:15 AM
The Eagle Jump Force program is designed for third and fourth grade students. The program is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to students who arrive, via their own transportation, at 7:45 (buses do not arrive until 8:00). We will have full 30-minute practices to develop skills and prepare for exhibitions and programs. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be open to students who ride the buses and may be here for only a few minutes. The focus on Tuesdays and Thursdays will be skill development and fitness, but not to the extent that the three-day program will cover. Students who come on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are also welcome and encouraged to attend on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Boys and girls who expect to be involved in programs and exhibitions need to be here each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7:45. We will meet in the gym.
Jumping rope and walking are great cardio-respiratory fitness activities. Early morning activity enhances mental alertness in the classroom and has a calming effect on many youngsters. While jumping rope, the children will learn many skills and “tricks” that contribute to positive self-esteem…and jumping rope with friends is just plain FUN!
Early Morning Walking Club
Monday – Friday
7:50 – 8:20 AM
All grade levels, K – 4, are encouraged to participate. Children who eat breakfast must do so before going to the track for walking. Other students need to enter the building as usual, place their book bags against the walls by the art room and then go to the track. An “OPEN” or “CLOSED” sign will be displayed every day on the cafeteria hall doors.
Jumping rope and walking are great cardio-respiratory fitness activities. Early morning activity enhances mental alertness in the classroom and has a calming effect on many youngsters. Walking a few laps around the track helps to set the tone for a good day and also offers students opportunities for interaction with friends and siblings.
Moore Melodies Choir
Moore Melodies is made up of 4th grade students meeting before school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They perform multiple times per year for school and in the community.
Moore Melodies Choir is supervised by Eli Adams.
Destination Imagination (DI) is a non-profit, volunteer-led, cause-driven organization. Our purpose is to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. Annually, we offer seven new standards-based Challenges in STEM, Improv, Visual Arts, Service Learning, and Early Learning. Each Challenge enables student teams to learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation.
Destination Imagination is supervised by Rebecca Piggott.
Who: 4th grade students
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays after school 3:30-4:45 until Winter Break
What: Open Studio Art Club will have a small group of students with access to all the supplies in the art room to create his or her own artwork.
Fourth grade students are invited to sign up for Open Studio Art Club which will take place after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Art Club will run from immediately after school until 4:45. This will not be a typical art class in that each student will be choosing what they wish to create and will have guidance from Mr. Reynolds in how best to achieve that goal. 4th Grade Open Studio Art Club will run until the end of this semester. Transportation will not be provided for this after school club.
MAC - IF students are signed up for MAC they can be released there following Open Studio Art Club. I would HIGHLY recommend signing your student up for MAC so if you are ever running late they will be able to attend MAC until you arrive.
ATTENDANCE/PICKUP- Students will be notified which days they will be attending Open Studio Art Club after all forms have been turned in. Number of days depends on the number of interested students and keeping our group size small to allow ample physical distancing. Pickup will be in the Car Lane at 4:45. We will be exiting the Art Room down the ramp near the playground. This will keep our dismissal from interfering with MAC dismissals. PLEASE BE ON TIME to pick up your student. If late arrivals for pick up continue you will be asked to sign up for MAC to continue Open Studio Art Club attendance. While MAC sign up isn’t required it is STRONGLY encouraged.
THE EXPERIENCE- Students will have full access to ALL art supplies available in the MES Art Room. They will consult with Mr. Reynolds to determine what they would like to create, how to create it, and what supplies might be used to create their artwork. Students will not need to bring anything of their own to participate. No food will provided, but students may bring a snack if they desire.
