Help Families in Need Clear Lunch Debt

The FSSD Food and Culinary Services Department’s Take A Bite Out of Student Lunch Debt program provides generous donors with an opportunity to help students in need erase their negative cafeteria balances. The district actively works to assist families in filling out the federal free and reduced meal application throughout the year. Many times, a family may be experiencing financial difficulties but they do not meet the federal income eligibility requirements to receive reduced or free lunch. The FSSD philosophy is to feed every child regardless of account balance; however, this puts a financial strain on the food service department. The generosity of others in erasing the student lunch debt has provided our families with much-appreciated relief in the past.

If you would like to help erase a student’s lunch debt, there are several ways to donate:

  • Go to FSSD Take A Bite to make an online donation to go toward eliminating lunch debt – one student at a time!
  • Donate by check, made out to FSSD Food and Culinary Services with Lunch Debt Donation in the memo field. Mail checks to FSSD Food and Culinary Services, 507 New Highway 96 West, Franklin, TN 37064.
  • Transfer money that is already in a student account to other students with negative balances. To do this, email Food and Culinary Services Operations Coordinator Marne Price at pricemar@fssd.org with your child’s name (so the correct account can be accessed) and how much you would like to transfer.
  • Contact the FCS Office at 615-472-3728.
